This week I’ve been busy spending time with Jude and getting him ready for kindergarten. I can’t believe this time has come! It’s bittersweet because I’m looking forward to more time, but at the same time I’m a little sad that we won’t be able to just “pick-up and go” anymore. It’s all very exciting nonetheless.

Today, I’m sharing with you how to set SMART financial goals so that you can start earning the income you desire to support your ideal lifestyle. I did this a little while ago and I am seeing HUGE results!

First, what is your ideal lifestyle? What do you want to be, do and have in life? By writing this out you will be clear on what your ideal life looks like. This might be an eye opener. Keep in mind what your values in life are, i.e. family, happiness, freedom, etc. From there, think about what this lifestyle will cost. Assign a value to everything. This may take some research. Break it down from there to a monthly cost.

Second, think about where you are now. Write out all sources of income and revenue you currently have on a monthly basis.

Third, what is the difference between where you currently are and where you want to be? This is your new goal for the month.

Fourth, use SMART goals to ensure success. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timed. Your new goal is specific because of the number. It’s measurable as well because of the number. Is it achievable and realistic? You need to believe you can do it and be willing to do everything it takes to achieve it. That is key. Pick a date that you would like to achieve this new goal by. By setting goals this way you are more apt to achieve them.

Fifth, write it down. Write this number down or even make a fake bill for the amount, and then post it somewhere you will see it every day. This will keep your intention in the forefront of your mind.

Sixth, watch how you change. You will start to notice business ideas and opportunities. All of a sudden ideas will “jump” into your mind. You will also notice that you are more open to sales calls and will become a better sales person. Your mindset will completely change and you will face all of your fears head on.

Last, visualize what you want. This works for top athletes, so why not for you? Take a few minutes every day to picture what you would like. How will your life be when you have the means to make it happen? What does your ideal life look and feel like? Picturing yourself living that life and what that feels like for you is really important.
